Hi,
Is it possible to bring in a cube (built using Transformer) into Analysis studio directly without going through framework manager?
Any help or advise is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Banu
Nope.
Cognos 8 Reporting Applications require a Package. Packages come from a Framework Model Project.

Mark, not necessarily anymore. You can now create a data source connection and publish a cube as a package directly from Transformer in 8.3.
Excuse my ignorance but in older versions iqd's were used as source files.
What role does Framework Manager play alongside Transformer, if any?
Thanks,
Bobj BI.
we should first clear with which version we r talking.
in 8.1 i think we need to publish cube in framework manager & only then it is available for Analysis Studio.
in 8.4(i suppose in 8.3 also) we can use cube without going through framework manager .
Am i getting this right

This is correct

Correct
The fundamental way Transformer 8.4 works is essentialy like Framework manager, in that it is a Web Based Thick Client that connects directly to Cognos Connection for everything.
You can now publish a Cube Package directly to Cognos Connections with Transformer 8.4 as a result.
There is no longer a need to have special FM Projects that are only used to create Cube Packages. There are simply new tabs available in the properties of each Cube you define in Transformer 8.4
I don't think I am giving any trade secrets away with these but here is a Screen Shot of how you define the Datasource for the Cube in Transformer

And here is a screen shot of where you define the package info

Consider that if you want to have few cubes in one package you still need use FM.
