I would like to understand how to configure multiple gateway servers like multiple dispatcher. This question has been asked by one of the interview and they want to know the steps. Till now i have configured only 1 gateway.
Could you please provide me the information how to configure failover gateway server.
Instead of providing Cognos links, requesting to provide the steps to achieve this activity.

We use a network load balancer (NLB) to achieve this. DNS A record "cognos10.example.com" points to an IP address setup on the NLB. Some NLB devices call this a virtual IP (VIP). The NLB then is set to forward requests to the gateway1 and gateway2 servers in a round robin fashion. The NLB can determine if one is down by checking the gateway page content every 5 minutes. If one is determined to be down all requests are sent to the other. The NLB continues to check on the page content regularly and once the gateway is back online it is added back into the mix

Hi,
It's not very polite or fair to dictate that people trying to help you should not provide links to the information you desire but instead spend hours typing out steps in a post, is it? Why would you include such a stipulation in your post? You are asking for help and at the same time trying to dictate in what form you consider that help to be acceptable. People post on here in their own time and of their own free will and desire to help others. You should not and must not try to dictate to them how they should reply.
