Title: How to show Cube Dimensions in framework manager?
Post by: kgcognos on 02 Nov 2015 01:09:55 PM
We are trying to create a package out of a Transformer Cube in Framework Manager (purpose is to test database security using session parameter).
First we created a data source that is pointing out to a Powercube mdc file.
Then, we ran the metadata wizard and select the data source that we created.
We can create a package out of the data source and run a report in BI with no issue. We can see all the cube dimensions there.
But we thought it will show all the dimensions(fields) of the cube into the framework manager. Is there a way to do this?
We want to add a data security using the user sign on.
Thank you in advance.

Framework Manager will only let you publish a package for any Transformer Cube. It will not show any fields used in building the cube because FM is not meant to change the cube in any way. Any changes to the cube has to be done in Transformer itself. Some session parameters will become part of the package and will be available in Report Studio if you use RS to make a report from the cube (ex: account.defaultname() ) which you can use to filter the data in RS. However, this does not put the security on the cube itself and the entire data can be seen in Analysis Studio. To enforce the security on the cube itself, security views have to be created in Transformer .
