Hi there,
When my coworker creates reports, no one can see them in the folder. This includes him who created it, and myself who is the admin.
I've taken a look in the DB, and in the table CMOBJECTS, I've noticed that the classid is different. Most of the reports are listed as reports or report views. The ones saved by this user however are saved as outputs.
So first, can I just go into the DB and change the reports classid?
And second, how do I change the default type that the report is saved in?
Is he saving them while viewing report output, or from within Report Studio? The former will save the report he is viewing, the latter will save the report definition so you can rerun it with current data from your data source.
Or is he perhaps saving them in My Folders and looking for them in Public Folders?
He's saving them from report studio.
In his personal folder, he can see them no problem. However, if he saves the reports in the public folder they aren't there after saving.
Nothing is saved in Public Folders. It has to be saved in a folder inside Public Folders.
The reports are saved in a folder in Public Folders.
Check the permissions of that folder.
Users role, and individual user has full permissions on this folder.
There should be no reason that he can't save to that folder.
Also, I'm surprised that reports would simply disappear if saved to the wrong folder.
If he has the Read and Write permissions then he should be able to see the report. The only time I have seen erratic behavior in Cognos is when the Browser was not compatible with the version of Cognos and when the Content Store was corrupted. Other than that, I haven't seen any erratic behavior.
Did you change something in the Content Store as you were originally thinking of? That's a very dangerous approach though.

Ok, this is a really long-shot stupid suggestion along the lines of "are you sure it is plugged into an outlet".....
Is he refreshing cognos connection after saving? Otherwise I would suspect the browser as Cognostechie mentioned.
I didn't change anything at the DB level. It's playing with fire, and I don't like changing things that I can't fix.
Both he and I are using the same browser, IE11 which should be ok.
Is there a way to test the content store for corruption?
Or could there be some kind of deny permissions?
Long shot here, but is IE11 in compatibility mode? Have you tried a different browser, to try and eliminate some browser issue?
check out Lynn's question.
another thing... are you using the same servers?
