Greetings!
I was having fun playing with ReportStudio and maps yesterday. Until I made the mistake to show my boss what Cognos can do ;D.
Now, he's excited like a kid in a candy store and has given me a assignment:
1) We have a database that captures telco data alongside with STATES, DMA and ZIPS.
2) The existing maps in Cognos do not provide such granularity (no DMA): I have to create my own custom GST map.
3) Per Cognos.com (http://tinyurl.com/29vd7x (http://tinyurl.com/29vd7x)), the vendor MAPINFO has different tools to create your own maps.
What I can't seem to figure out is what tool to use for create my own *GST file. MapsX? MapMarker? Etc...
Has anyone worked with custom maps? What tool(s) have you used to create your custom maps?
TIA,
Al.
Ps: My apologies if this question is out of topic.
I found my answer.
The tool to use to create GST file that Map Manager converts into CMF file is called "MapInfo Professional ".
Sorry for the trouble.
Al.
Thanks for sharing!

Do you mind sharing how you used the MapInfo Professional to create the GST file? I can't find it anywhere. I am just using the demo copy and perhaps it is a limitation of the demo version. We want to make sure it will work before we make a purchase for use with Cognos. Or is there some other tool that can be done to take a map and break it up into Division/Regions/Areas to map our data inside of Cognos?
