Title: convert data in a column into rows in a new report
Post by: weekatey on 18 Sep 2007 08:54:19 AM
I use cognos to write reports from cognos, In one table I have a column called 'Type'.  I have inserted a new 'list' and related it back to Query 1, I now want to take the information from the 'type' column such as CM, DM,DEP, INV, I have inserted a query calculation to make  columns based on the information populated from the 'Type' column in Query 1 .......CM, DM, DEP, INV, can anyone give me advice how to do this?

Hi,

Not sure I'm quite following what you're trying to do here...

Are you saying you want to pivot values from a single column in your query into multiple column headings in your report?

If I'm understanding your requirement correctly, couldn't you achieve this easily by using a crosstab?  Or am I barking up the wrong tree (quite usual for me!  :) )

Regards,

MF.

I think crosstab can do the job.
If not then you'll end up joining many queries (one for each CM, DM etc.) for a list.
