Title: List with check box to filter chart
Post by: shelby435 on 04 Aug 2015 08:05:15 AM
I have a list. It has one variable set to show a hidden pop up. (they click on the first column and a small window appears with additional data).

I have a requirement to add a check box next to each name that is in the first column, to drive the data in an associated chart. I thought I could use a data check box, with a master detail set on name, and then a new variable to drive the data into a chart. (unlock the report, but the data check box into the column etc)

It works, however, it does not stay selected. Each time I click on a new check box in de-selects the other one.

I tried to explain it the best I could. Thoughts anyone?

I was actually able to figure this out by putting the data check box outside the list and making sure they always have the same sort. Worked great! yeah that didnt work as planned

Any possible way to multi-select a list to populate the selected with a chart?

Hi,

If you are using charts you're not going to be able to multi-select. Charts are rendered as static png images and you use a data deck to flip between them. If you want to be able to filter using multiple values you will need to use a visualization rather than a chart.

Using the data checkbox alongside the list is the right way to go - you just need to use a visualization and filter it with the AR variable rather than a chart in a data deck being selected by the variable.

Cheers!

MF.
