Hi Guys,
I'm working cognos 10.2. I have not good knowledge to create a dimensional package in report studio. Please can you suggest me what are condition should mind and How to model a dimensioal package in FM.

Thank you in Advance.

Have a nice day.

That is a fairly broad and rather vague question. You posted in the correct place, Framework Manager, but you mention report studio and FM in your question. Of course we don't create packages in report studio. FM can be used to create a DMR (dimensionally modeled relational) package which it seems is what you're after.

I think you should start with the Framework Manager user guide and take a look at chapter 9 which covers guidelines for modeling meta data. It addresses dimensional aspects as well as relational aspects that are important. Having a firm grip on the relational side is important, I think, before delving into dimensional so chapter 5 about modeling relational meta data should be well understood.

Hi lynn,
Thanks for your response, I have no problem on relational package modeling. Problem on DMR only because when create a level, what is the usage of hierarchy, How to handle DMR hierarchy. It was reflected after published package that's why rised query about. I will check those chapter. Please let me if you know some external documents or some other author wrote article about DMR package creation.

Thank you again.

Cheers,

Hi,

You will save yourself LOTS of time, trouble, stress and hair-loss if you invest in a training course for modelling data in Framework Manager. IBM offer these course through their business partners, and they cover the full spectrum of modelling, including building DMR and best practices. I'd honestly recommend you take the course rather than trying to muddle through, not knowing what you are doing...
