Title: Removing Gateway
Post by: aphdavies on 26 May 2015 02:33:21 PM
Hello,  My company has gone thru a divestiture and I am investigating how we can split BI from the Gateway because they are not taking our full Cognos solution.  Any ideas on how?  Is it as simple as pointing the Gateway URI to the BI app server in the environment properties?

Thanks for the guidance!

To be honest, I am not sure what this means and therefore what problem you are trying to solve. I have never been through one but I would expect a divestiture to split IT infrastructure as well, so not sure what is going on here. Wouldn't you be walled off from them post-divestiture, or is everything still in one data center? Still sharing an authentication provider? Are you just wanting to ensure the old company cannot get to the divested companies BI implementation?

I am trying to isolate the BI server.  All they want is BI and not the gateway because they are not taking all of our Cognos servers(controller, TM1,...) onto their separate network.

It may be more complicated than that if the BI server is providing authentication services to the other Cognos products.    Quick check is to open Cognos Configuration on all servers and see if it points back into the BI server.  If you find those, then it's more complicated than just repointing the web server.

I am just wondering why you are not directly accessing the Cognos with dispacther URI then ?
