Title: Dimension vs Fact documentation matrix
Post by: lrietze on 15 May 2015 05:32:03 PM
Hey all,

I am a new student hire at my organization, and have been tasked with documentation of our systems.
We are looking to create dynamic documentation for the data in our Data Manager; specifically the dimension hierarchies and the relationships between Fact tables and dimensions (so a matrix that would show which dimensions are used by which facts).
We are using version 8.4.1, and were wondering if there is a way in here to produce this documentation for us, or to specifically extract the information we'd be interested in, so we could parse it elsewhere.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

If you're using Data Manager, you're in luck. You can go to File > Document Catalog, and the Data Manager Designer will do the job for you, in the form of a linked HTML document. Assuming your fact builds reference hierarchies or lookups in the dimensions, these reference links will be included.

Cheers!

MF.

Thanks MF and sorry about the delayed response (the e-mail notification went straight to junk  :-\)
