I'm fairly new to Cognos and have created some very simple packages consisting of single views of data that my dba made for me. Then I just published a simple package with one view (and other namespaces or relationships defined...) But when I launch Report Studio and try to hook up the package I created, I always get this error message:
QFS-ERR-0141 This report service is configured as 64-bit and only supports packages published with the dynamic query mode.
But my dba guy has told me that we can't use Dynamic Query Mode in the our particular environment (can't remember reason). Am I out of luck here or is there a workaround?

I think, if your DBA is correct in saying that DQM cannot be used in your particular environment, then switch your report server cognos configuration to a 32-bit mode, which as per the above article will be able to handle both DQM and CQM.
OR, if you have a 32-bit dispatcher in your environment, use routing rules to send your report exections with this new package to the 32-bit mode dispatchers ONLY.

Small point of clarification: I was referring to Cognos Admin guy who told me that since ours is an Oracle shop we don't have Dynamic Query enabled for a long time until all our environments get migrated. So if I go through the Publish Package wizard and select "Dynamic Query Mode" I will get a JDBC error. But when I uncheck DQM and publish a package, then Report Studio will throw the error code in my original post.
So to put it in simple terms, you do not need the 64-bit mode on the report server which can handle DQM only packages. Switch it to 32-bit mode.
How do I switch the report service to 32-bit? I don't have access to Cognos Administrator - that's handled by my other guy in a different office.
You need access to cognos configuration. On all the report servers/dispatchers, open the cognos configuration and set the "Report Server Execution Mode" under "Environment" to 32-bit.

I'm using FM 10.2.1 and my Environment screen doesn't look quite like yours. I have "Other URI Settings" under which "Dispatcher URI" is. But under that isn't anything like "Report Server Execution Mode". The only things under Dispatcher URI that I have is Font Settings.

It's a configuration setting for the Cognos BI server instance, not your local FM instance. Your Cognos admin person would need to make the change for you and restart the Cognos service to apply it.
