Has anyone else ran into a problem where cognos viewers stop working correctly when new prompts are added to reports? I have noticed this issue at a previous job that used Cognos 8.4 and now am still running into it using Cognos 10.2.1.1.
Say I have set up a cognos portal with 2 cognos viewers. One viewer points at a summary report and the 2nd points at detail report. The viewers communicate and everything works as intended (all prompts and drill throughs work correctly). Then I go to add a new prompt to both reports (same exact prompt - even copied and pasted).
I would think I should be able to refresh/run the cognos portal and have both cognos viewers communicate successfully (including the new prompt) - However that is not the case. Maybe all of the original prompts still communicate correctly but the new prompt that I added does not talk between the summary and detail reports. Am I missing something? It is very annoying having to recreate a new cognos portal every time that I have to update reports.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I've always found the portal stuff to be somewhat temperamental and sometimes difficult to change. Since you are now on 10.2.1.1, you should have a look at Workspace. It is a much better way to present the data anyway.
