Hi,
Cognos doesn't assume any user ID or password for data source connections. It will use whatever credentials you defined when initially setting up the connection. If you need to go back and amend the credentials, drill into the data source, drill into the connection, and from there you can edit the signon.
Cheers!

Hi MF,
I Thank you first of all your reply. I have an error while test the connection of new DB into cognos. My credentials were worked to connect the DB through Data studio but cognos won't accept! No error message at performing test connection, still status of test connection failed . Can please clear the route to resolve this problem?
Have a nice day. :)

Hi,
If your login for the database is valid and you have checked it using Data Studio, then the issue isn't the signon. You're assuming that because the password mask is 8 digits, Cognos is somehow changing the shorter password you entered. This isn't the case - the password mask will show as 8 digits regardless.
From your attachment, it looks like you're connecting to a DB2 database using the native client connection? This requires you to have the DB2 native client installed on the server running Cognos, and it also requires you to have a database alias defined in the client on that server, pointing to the real DB2 database you want to be able to access. My guess is you don't have either one or both of these set up?
Cheers!

Hi MFGF,
I was re-installed IBM ODBC and CLI Driver now and configured path variable as /opt/ibm/db2/odbc_cli/clidriver/bin:/opt/ibm/db2/odbc_cli/clidriver/adm then specified driver path as DB2_CLI_DRIVER_INSTALL_PATH=/opt/ibm/db2/odbc_cli/clidriver then library path as LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/ibm/db2/odbc_cli/clidriver/lib then restart my cognos service. still i got that same error while test the DB connection failed with out error message. All other properties are work well. Help me to resolve this error.
Thank you.
Have a nice day :)

Did you configure a database alias to point to your database?
I notice you are using Cognos 10.1.1 and DB2 10.5? I just checked the Supported Environments page for Cognos 10.1.1, and it only supports versions of DB2 up to DB2 10.1...
