Title: RS skips optional prompt filters if a page with a required prompt is present
Post by: Arsenal on 15 Aug 2007 03:39:38 PM
Hey guys,

Here's  a peculiar problem:

I have a report in which the there is a prompt page with a required type in prompt

Then in the main query, I also have optional filters (such as ?date?, ?amt? etc.) as well as the filter from the above prompt page

When the report is run, the required prompt appears, but none of the optional prompts show up...if I delete the prompt page and its associated filter, then the optional prompts show up

Any solutions to this?
Thanks

Hi,

Can you add prompts for your optional filters to the prompt page?  They can still be marked as optional...

Depending on the version, this might be a bug. I've run into it in the past. Are you on 8.2? Seems to be most stable.

Thanks for your reply, guys

MFGF, I could set it to optional, but I don't think the users would be very happy to see the optional prompts come up just because they have to answer that one required prompt
Seems to me that there should be no reason why all optional prompts should be skipped if there's a required prompt when that report is run standalone and not as a drill through

cognoise,

we're on 8.1 here. We want to move to 8.2 but one or the other thing keeps holding us up :(

What did you do to fix the problem? Just upgraded?

There was a bunch of reports that simply had to be recreated from scratch in 8.1. Eventually we gave up, and jumped on 8.2, which has been most pleasing so far.
