Title: Cognos Office Audit
Post by: Cognos KW on 25 Mar 2015 07:17:24 PM
Hi Guys,

Is there a column in Audit database tables which captures the device/Tool from where Cognos report was executed?
I want to check usage stats of Cognos office application (When a user drags a report in Excel or word using Cognos office). In audit reports I can track all the report executions but I can't find a field which says the report was executed from office.

Your assistance would be very much appreciated!

Cheers,
KW

I don't think that information is captured in the Audit database. All it sees are incoming requests, and I doubt there is anything in the request that identifies it originated in an MS office document.

Cheers!

Cognos office runs its queries against RDS (report data service) which is what the mashup service is built upon I believe. If you can enable logging on this service than you might be able to focus on the cognos office users. I seem to recall that the audit database logs what service is issuing the request. It's worth seeing if report executions from cognos office log in the audit database as Report Data Service.
