Hi Guys,
We have installed Cognos 10-2-2 on our system with the advanced options and a SQL server as content store. Now we want to test the new feature My Data Set. Well this page is shown but when clicking on new data set there is no wizard started. So what do we need to setup/reinstall to get this feature active?

Hi,
The "My data sets" feature in 10.2.2 uploads data fron an external source to a running and configured instance of DB2. The 10.2.2 license and installs allow for a DB2 instance to be created on your Cognos server. Once you have this, you then need to create a new data source with a Type of "My data sets repository" and point it to your DB2 instance.
Cheers!

Hi Gurus,
Do you think that this option will be open to other standard DB engines (SQL Server, Oracle) or will remain only for DB2 users. :-\
Thank you.

My belief is that IBM will expand it to allow other databases to be used as a repository in future. That's only a guess, though. For now it's DB2 only. Only IBM know what their future release plans are, so don't take my guess as being definitive :)

Hi MF,
Is this a separate download or part of the Cognos Install files?

It's part of the 10.2.2 Cognos BI server install - you can get it to install DB2 at the same time as BI server.

Thank you MFGF, I guess too, but after discussing with someone from IBM, it seems that this option work really well with DB2 BLU and not much with standard DB2 LUW...
All I can do know is wait and see but it seems that the wait could be long ??? .....
Thanks for your reponse.
