Title: Lotus Notes
Post by: ComplexQry on 06 Aug 2007 02:57:27 PM
My area of reporting could really benefit reporting off of Lotus Notes Databases and our Datamart.  But I was told that we don't have the Lotus Notes Driver to make that work with Cognos 8.  Anyone know what Driver I am looking for?

Try NotesSQL:
http://www-142.ibm.com/software/sw-lotus/products/product4.nsf/wdocs/notessqlhome

"NotesSQL is an ODBC (Open Database Connectivity) driver for Notes and Domino. It allows ODBC-enabled data reporting tools, database tools, and application development tools to read, report, and update information that is stored in Domino databases (.nsf files). "

Disclaimer: I have not used that driver myself. Almost had to on one project but luckily real database was used instead of domino. If i had to report off of notes, I would load (NotesSQL and DataManager should do the trick) the data first into a relational database, do some cleansing and then use that db as reporting source.

I have been told that NotesSQL utilizes the Client-Based Notes Driver.  That driver is not supported to be put on a Server by IBM (Lotus Notes) or my Company.  So is there a Server Based Lotus Notes Driver?

To put closure to this...  All that is needed is Domino Server and NotesSQL loaded onto the Server.  If that is done, the capability is there and it is fully supported by IBM.
