Title: error occurred in sending parameters in Cognos Server administration tool
Post by: Cng2005 on 06 Aug 2007 05:39:39 AM
Hi Cognos gurus !!
I am getting frequent error "Unable to log-on. A Network failure occurred while communication to server "XXX". Error occurred sending parameters to server. Please logon again".

This is a very intermittent. All I have to do it re-start the IWR server from the services. and then it works. The problem is - we have got around 100 reports that kick off overnight, and when I come in this morning, I log-on to the server, and I coulld not get in. So I restart the service, and it looks like all the scheduled reports seemed to have stalled. They start the moment I re-start the service.

Any idea guys. This is affecting our business a lot. Any help woudl be a great help. I searched Cognos KB, and there is only one topic similar to this. all it said is change the Keyboard setting to English(US). Ours was set to UK. I have changed it to US, but I have to re-start the server to take into affect.

MEantime, if anyone has any solution, please let me know !!!

MANY THANKS>..

HI ALL,
I think I have found out a very probable solution.

Our scheduler was set to run about 10 reports parallely. I have reduced them to 4, and it seems that this problem has fixed. I dont have to re-start the service again, and all the scheduled reports runs normally !!!

This can be a good help to anyone who has faced this issue before.
