Title: Is Data level Security applied after migration ?
Post by: Raghuvir on 18 Feb 2015 12:45:49 AM
Hi,

When CM database is restored from Cognos 8 to Cognos 10 don't the data level (org security) also comes with it? Do we need to again publish the package with org security?

Request you to guide me with this.

Regards

Are you using the same authentication provider? If not, the CAMIDs will be different, so none of the existing security filters based on user/group CAMIDs from the authentication provider will be valid.

Hi MFGF,

if we are using the same authentication provider, will the data level security get migrated or we would need to republish the packages in the new environment ?

we are taking the back up of the content store database and restoring it on our new environment. is it also required to migrate the .cpf files to the new environment ?

Regards

If you use the same authentication provider configured in the same way, all the security should work as at present. I assume you will need to maintain / update your FM models in future, though, so keeping the FM CPF files is a good idea. When you open them in Framework Manager 10 they will upgrade (so will not be then available for use in Framework Manager 8 ) so it makes sense to take copies.

Cheers!
