Rams,

MetaManager's Script Runner can do this.  It can search for reports that have failed and then it can re-run them.  This can be done manually or automated (e.g. rerun failed schedules every night at 2 am).

You can see more information about script runner here:
http://www.bspsoftware.com/Products/MetaManager/API

And you can see it in action in webinar 1.26:
http://www.bspsoftware.com/Support/Webinars

If you would like to connect for a demonstration I would be happy to set one up.  Feel free to email me directly at andrew.weiss@avnet.com

Thanks,
-Andy

Hi Andy,

Thanks for your quick reply for my query...  :). I got some JAVA script to implement this in cognos but I don't know where we can copy that JAVA script for Automatic rerun of failed reports.

Please find the attached document of JAVA script. Please help on this I don't know where we have to copy JAVA code. I hope you will find the solution.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks,
Rams

Rams,

That's the challenge with the Cognos SDK.  You have this Java code, which requires that you set up a development environment (e.g. Eclipse) to edit it, compile it, debug it & execute it.  And you need to obtain and reference the Cognos SDK files. It's very complicated and a lot of overhead just to automate a simple task.

MetaManager is an application that you install on your desktop and point at IBM Cognos.  The product is intuitive and very easy to use.  With the script runner module you're able to write a script to automate a task (and we can help write them for you). Then all you have to do is push the run button.  There's not compilation, sdk files, or messing around with a JRE.  If you're interested I can set you up with a demonstration of MetaManager and specifically the Script Runner module.

Thanks,
-Andy

Hi Andy,

Thanks for  your quick reply. I understand the issue if we use JAVA code in cognos through SDK, could you set up with a demonstration for how to use the MetaManager application.

Tthanks,
Rams
