Hi,
I'm a Windows guy with only a passing familiarity with Cognos BI, but I've been asked to look into the process of upgrading Cognos BI 10.2 to 10.2.2 (because my company got rid of the only guy who really knew about Cognos BI!).
I've been all over the IBM site and cannot find anything that tells me how it's done. From posts here it seems that the process involves a full reinstall: backup, uninstall of 10.2 then install 10.2.2 - is that correct?
Could someone provide a quick overview or tips on how this is done? We have dev, uat and live environments on Windows 2008 R2 Standard.

Hi,
Yep - the approach is to back up 10.2, stop your web server, uninstall 10.2, then install 10.2.2 into the same location, configure, start and re-start your web server. All being well your content should upgrade when the 10.2.2 instance connects to your content store, but it's best to have a backup of that just in case :)

Yes - that's what I did. When you uninstall 10.2 it leaves the config files in place. If you install 10.2.2 into the same place you will keep your original config settings.

To be extra safe, it might be a good idea to export configuration in plain text ("Export as") and store the file in a safe place (keep in mind that it contains passwords in plain text).
