Title: Sys & Admin Link issue
Post by: shaud on 26 Jul 2007 09:14:50 AM
I have a situation where I've created a system and an admin link to to test transferring data into a cube however, both  of the links only bring over the data that the user typed or selected from a drop box but it wont bring over any data that was entered via dlink. any one have any suggestion why everything but link dlinked data will transfer over from a system or admin link?

Thanks

If you have a D-Link in Analyst that is pushing data from one cube to another, that will always take precedent on the website. For example, you cannot input data into these "cells" in Contributor and if you try to push Analyst data to the website, it will not work.

So, if you do not want the D-Link to overwrite anything you are doing, you need to stop that in 1 of 2 ways:
1) Make sure the D-Link is matched only on the parts that need the D-Link to push the data instead of anything else.
2) Turn off the D-Link within Analyst, Synch and GTP, then run your Admin or System Link.

This might help too ...
Think of it like a formula.  If C = A + B and we know that A=1 and B= 2, then C must equal 3.  However, what you are trying to do is change C to 4 while not touching A or B.

it seems i am missing something,i would like to know what i am missing here...
whatever you have described should work. your source dlist item for Admin link is populated thru dlink and that is not transfering data to target dlist item/cube/app.
