Title: Connection to Analysis Services 2005
Post by: mgraham on 24 Jul 2007 09:31:07 AM
I'm trying to connect to MSAS (2005) using Cognos connection (8.2)
When I go to create a connection, do I chose "Microsoft Analysis Services (via ODBO)" as the option to create the connection?
This asks for the server name only - which seems to be at odds with the cognos documentation?

i.e. "In the Name box, type great_outdoors_company or great_outdoors_finance and then click Next.
In the connection page, click the type of Microsoft SQL Server database that you restored and want to connect to, select an isolation level, and then click Next. "

When it states - click the type of SQL database, does this mean I should be connecting directly to the underlying dimensional database is GOSLDW directly.
Sorry, a bit confused.

Doesn't MSAS2005 accept only Windows Authentication?
