Title: Cognos 10.2.1 Reinstall Content Manager DB Question
Post by: gatorfe on 20 Nov 2014 05:44:21 PM
Hello, we have a windows 2008 r2 standard test server were consultants installed cognos 10.2.1 BI on the c drive.  We had to uninstall everything and install it on another drive.  Can we use the same content manager db or is it best to create a new one?  We are using sql.  This is the first time we install cognos ourselves.  Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hello gatorfe,
Yes you can definitely use the same content store DB. I would suggest simply copying over the cogstartup.xml file in plain text from your first installation in the C drive. That is, from cognos configuration export it as plain text. Back up the cogstartup.xml in the new install by renaming it to something like cogstartup-original.xml. Then paste the plain text cogstartup.xml from the first location. Start your cognos configuration from the new install location. You should be able to start the services right away.
