I am experiencing something I never did before. I have a report that runs in HTML in approx 5 minutes, and if I page down to the end, the whole process takes about 7 minutes from submission.
When I run the same report in the background, HTML or PDF it takes 5 hours ?

HTML is always going to fetch just what you need to display the first page. It will fetch more as you page down. This is by design.
When you run for the entire result set it must perform the entire query. Is this a very large result set?
