One of the things that amazed me after moving from BusinessObjects to Cognos is that Cognos doesn't work with underlying ID's for objects in the semantic layer.
In BO I can rename and move my objects without having to change my reports.
I heard there are tools to adjust the reports after you rename or moved your objects in the Framework.
Which tool do you recommend?
Are you familiar with this proven practice document? It is helpful to minimize the pain you are describing.

I've not worked directly with any of the 3rd party tools but people who have them typically have lots of good things to say. Our kind Cognoise hosts, BrightStar Partners, have one of these products so perhaps start your evaluation there. Theirs is called Meta Manager I think.
