Title: Tips for Keeping Filesize of MHT to a Minimum
Post by: dpccgf on 07 Jun 2014 09:27:53 AM
This is not a question that needs a solution but thought I would ask what tips people had in keeping MHT files down in size.  Suggestions would be appreciated!

hi,

we can try to use miminum queries, for eg, if data for two objects can be extracted through a single query then we can resuse the query.

Resuing the variables.

there will be more options to do the same, but as of now i know about this two options. would request cognos gurus to put some light on this topic.

Regards

I think query reuse can limit complexity but I'm not sure it does very much in terms of minimizing the size of the mht.

There was an excellent presentation at IOD a few years ago given by the developers who created the active report product for Cognos. I have attached the powerpoint slides. Of course not everything in here pertains to minimizing the size of the mht.

I recall hearing that some of the early recommendations on sizing have since been changed to suggest percentages rather than fixed pixels but otherwise I think a lot of the tips and dos and don'ts still apply.
