Title: Measure, where it comes from
Post by: Francis aka khayman on 30 May 2014 03:29:26 AM
I am kind of new to transformer and I have this situation. This cube is passed on to me and I am the only Cognos resource left. In transformer... (I'll simplify it to) I have measures Amount, Quantity, US_Excg_Rate.

Now in my datasources I have two fact tables exactly the same. To simplify:

Fact1.Table ID
Fact1.Product ID
Fact1.Amount
Fact1.Quantity
Fact1.US_Excg_Rate

Fact2.Time ID
Fact2.Product ID
Fact2.Amount
Fact2.Quantity
Fact2.US_Excg_Rate

How will I know from which of these tables is the source of my measures? Is there a way to know?

I think they are both sourcing your measures.

Transformer will only accept a measure if that measure comes from one Fact or if it comes from multiple facts then the granularity of both the facts should be the same inside Transformer (outside Transformer - in the ETL the granularity can be different). So, like Lynn said, the measure is being used in Transformer from both the Facts. Transformer will read the data from both the facts simultaneously and add the data to the levels of the dimensions.
