Hi there.
I've only worked with TRN on windows, so it's very interesting to me, whether it's any better on any *nix flavor?
My current client has a 4+ Gb cube with 6 hours of build time and looking forward to decrease it. No splitting to smaller cubes, no changes to model, no manual partitioning can be done, let's assume.
I'm thinking of a nice standalone fast-cpu wintel server with a decent controller, but...
Maybe I should go look out for pSeries monster? Since trn is 2-threaded, I won't gain much of smp architecture (let alone build other cubes in parallel).
Or a Solaris one?
Or get a an x86 and try to compile a lightning-fast gentoo with trn linux x86 build?
Any suggestions?
My preference is Windows. Always Windows. Never worked with pSeries thou, and to think of it, without all the Win overhead it might be an interesting contender.
