Hi!
I got Planning 10.1.1 (FP2, I think..) on my workstation (Win 7, MS SQL Server 2008) and now all of a sudden I can't open Contributor applications anymore. After clicking any app in Cognos Connection I get the error below (also in the attached jpg). Any ideas? Logs show nothing related.
(phasePageLoad)
(errorServerReturnedError)
Component error:

Component description:

Hi There
A single Planning user is experiencing this identical error on his local machine. Have you perhaps resolved this issue on your side? If so, I would greatly appreciate it if you would share your resolution.
Thanks a mil!

Try this:
Open up an Internet Explorer window
Navigate to the Tools menu
Then select Manage Add-ons
Dialog box should pop up
Then select Toolbars and Extensions
On the right hand pane of the dialog box, locate a heading named Microsoft Corporation
Then locate an add-on named XML DOM Document 3.0 and XML DOM Document and ensure that it has a status of Enabled
Close the dialog box
Close all of your Internet Explorer windows to ensure the setting gets applied
Hi,
I added the website to compatibility view settings in my IE browser.

Hey, wow, replies here :D
No, I didn't solve this yet but possibly will take a shot with the suggested approaches when I find the time...
Thanks!
My user was getting this error (IE 11):
============================================
Component error:
(0x800a01b6)
component description:
object doesn't support property or method 'setProperty'
script catching error:
planning12.js::errorCheckThrow
All other errors/error stack:
(errorServerReturnedError) planning12.js::errorCheckThrow
(errorCatch) planning00.htm::continueLoad:catch

I asked to add the website to compatibility view settings in IE browser. That solved the error.
============================================
Note about compatibility view settings from Microsoft:
Websites that are designed for older versions of Windows Internet Explorer don't always display as expected in the current version. We addressed this in Windows Internet Explorer 8 by adding the Compatibility View function that allows users to "revert" to a previous browser version.
I haven't even tried anymore to fix this on my first mentioned workstation, but in a client environment the compatibility setting resolved a similar error message.
Thank you for the tip!
