In report studio, I create a new crosstab. I drag my customers to the rows and one of my product groups, "Implants" to the columns. I give a measure of QTY and that's it. Then I click on the Implants column header, click sort and descending. When I run the report, nothing is sorted. I do see the sorting down arrow in the column heading within report studio but it just doesn't sort the report. I'm at my wit's end with this. Any suggestions?

Are you trying to sort by the label, or by QTY?
If you're trying to sort by QTY, make sure that you use Layout Sorting.
Is this a dimensional or relational source?
Thanks Paul but I still can't seem to get it to work. With Qty as my measure, customer as my row, product as my column, I click on the product and choose the A-to-Z sort button and select descending. It doesn't work. If I instead click on the product column and select Data > Advanced Sorting, I put Qty in the dialogue box and it doesn't work. I put the product in the dialogue box and it too doesn't work. It just seems Cognos is completely ignoring any of my sorting options.
relational or dimensional?
Dimensional with our dimensions built as hierarchies. However, I'm only pulling one level of the dimension to keep it straight forward.
For what it's worth, we solved out issue by using an order() function.

My apologies for opening this issue from April but I am stuck with the simplest task. I have a Crosstab and dragged set of members
from two different DIM.HIERARCHIES. Now, I need to establish a Sort for the overall edge (Left Column) listing of the Crosstab that shows
the members from the two DIM/HIERARCHIES.
If by any chance you know a way to get edge of the Crossbar sorted, I greatly appreciate it.
