Title: Capture chart selection into a parameter
Post by: briancole on 09 Apr 2014 10:27:15 AM
Hi,

I have a report containing a bar chart. When a user clicks on a bar in the chart, I want to capture their selection into a parameter so I can use it to control other reports in my workspace (similar to how you can pass the data item to a parameter of another report as a drill through)

Is this possible?

Thanks,
Brian

Hi Brian,

I am not a Cognos guru, so i dont know if i am right but what i feel is Report Studio and Workspace are different capabilities of cognos business intelligence so i m not sure if your requirement is possible.

Cognos Gurus please guide us with the same.

Regards

Hi all,

This is still an issue for me. Does anyone have any ideas?

What I need to achieve is:
1. User opens workspace
2. User clicks on item in chart in Widget A
3. Widget B filters based upon the selection from Widget A
4. User = happy

Thanks,
Brian

you can use a common prompt for your two reports/widgets. when user select a value for that prompt, it will filter both widgets.

or you can try to use active reports.
