Title: Prompting to Return Data at Different Levels
Post by: millertime23 on 03 Apr 2014 07:46:29 PM
Hey new guy here...

This might sound stupid but I am really struggling with having reports return data in aggregate at level's higher than the transactions post.  I know it is possible but don't know how to get it to work.

For ex, $20 cost hit against 1111.2.333, 1111.2.444, and 1111.3.333 respectively.  If I ran the report at level 2, I would want to see

1111.2 - $40
1111.3 - $20.

If I ran the report at level 1, it would show 1111 - $60.

Any help would be really appreciated.  Thanks!

Welcome to Cognoise. Just for the sake of clarity, are you using dimensional data? It looks like you are, but I thought I'd better ask...

Yes...not sure how familiar anyone here is with Costpoint's financial system but all of the data pull directly from those tables.

Cognos has some great canned reports that utilize report filter prompts to allow users to select which level they want to return data (rolling up from lower levels) but I haven't been able to recreate it on custom reports.

Thanks for the response.
