Title: How to set permission on IIS7 (Vista Business) for C8
Post by: AU on 10 Jun 2007 04:54:53 PM
Env: VISTA BUSINESS, IIS7, COGNOS 8, SQL SERVER 2005 (with SP2).

I'm able to start the cognos service without error.
But when I type localhost/cognos8 on URL, I get a dialog box prompted on IE7 asking find, save or cancel cognos.xts startwel=yes file (see similar case @ 1001666.2 on cognos KB).

I set up permission exe on cgi-bin in IIS7 by:

'Select the cgi-bin on left pane,
double-click Handler Mapping on the middle pane,
select Edit Handler Permission on the right pane,
check Execute box' (IIS7 new layout) - see attachment.

Still I'm getting the same error msg. Anyone has any clue?

Is Vista even supported by Cognos yet?

Have you tried setting the mime type in IIS to text/xml? It appears that .xts is treated as unknown file type..

I defined .xts mime type as text/xml both on COGNOS 8 and CGI-BIN virtual Directory level in IIS7. But still the same issue .. C8 on VISTA IIS7 is not currently officially supported by Cognos .. but i think some individuals have done it on their computers, I'm quite close as well ('ve suxfly configured and started cognos service, also transformer working fine) ..

Let me know if there is any other option for .xts file. Thanks
