Title: JDBC connection to Vertica
Post by: siyad on 14 Mar 2014 01:14:06 PM
Hi all,

Anybody knows whether Cognos creates a data source to vertica using the JDBC connection

Thanks in advance

Cheers

There is no out-of-the-box Vertica-specific connection type. You could try the generic JDBC connection though - it might work?

Cheers!

It has worked without any issues. You just need to copy the jar files to the respective lib folders in cognos content manager server. Other than that, cognos doesnt have a Vertica 'Type' in JDBC connection settings and just kept the 'IBM Informix Dynamic Server'. I believe this doesnt have any impact on the connection when you did the correct JDBC URL and Driver class name. Connection succeeded and can also use in the FM model

It really doenst matter the type you select here. In my case I have selected the first one coming up in the drop down list and was 'IBM Informix Dynamic Server'. But you can just select a random one and I reckon it will work if you add all other parameters correctly
