Post by: Joker on 01 Mar 2014 07:17:00 AM
I am a bit confused in the difference between a Prompt macro and a value prompt.
What are the Situations when we can use a prompt(prompt many) macro?
Request you to please explain this in detail. It will be beneficial to me.

Hi,

A value prompt is a report object that you drag in from the toolbox. It sets a parameter, which can often be used in a filter expression or even in a calculation which includes a prompt macro.

A prompt macro is code within an expression that asks for a parameter value to be set, and substitutes the resolved parameter (and often more syntax) into the expression. It can either result in a default prompt to fulfil the parameter value, or it can be used in league with a defined value prompt to fulfil the parameter value (or any other desired prompt type)

Cheers!

MF.
