Title: How to send a report embedded in email?
Post by: kerenka on 17 Feb 2014 05:36:06 AM
I'm trying to embed a Cognos report in an email message body, with no luck.

I've tried IBM official solution and to unmark "Include a link to the report" and "Attach the report" in the email options - and it didn't work, not with my report and not with almost blank report that I built just for testing.
I've also tried to embed the report using html tag, but the mail client (Outlook) does not support iframe.

Google searches didn't show anything useful.

Does anyone here have another idea without using external tool? i'll be happy to read.

Thanks a lot, Keren

If you leave the subject blank and check the option attach report, the report will be embedded in the body.
Select the report format as html.

Thanks for the reply.
I'm sorry to say it's not working  - when I leave the subject blank and mark the "attach the report" checkbox, I am not getting the email at all, even though everything seems to be working fine.

Any additional ideas?

Thanks,
Keren

The body, not the subject, needs to be blank. If you have an HTML output, it will attempt to use that as the body. You can actually have a generated email body and a different report pdf through clever use of render variables on the pages.

The fact that you're not getting any email at all is more worrying though. If you look at the run history, is Cognos actually attempting to send it? Is this a scheduled or manually run report?
