Title: Cognos 10.2.1 with Series 7 security
Post by: ghostraider on 14 Feb 2014 06:42:47 AM
Hello All,

Please let me know if there is any disadvantage of using Series 7 security along with Cognos 10.2.1 considering that SunOne directory server is not provided by default from IBM. We are on 8.1.2 and have the SunOne 5.2 software but I observed that support has reached end of life for this version. In this case if there are any issues with the directory server I feel we maybe in trouble. Is it a good idea to use this or switch over to the corporate Active Directory server for authentication? Please let me know.

Thank you very much for your time.

Switch.

The Sun One won't install on a 64-bit OS so there's no way to create a new server for your directory unless you go to Win2008 32-bit or earlier OS.  You can use virtualization tools to backup/launch new copies of the existing server, but a server name change requires additional hacking (undocumented and unsupported) in order to get it to work.
