Can anyone suggest step by step process for to give output in alternate colour.
Eg: report has four coloumns,
output background colour should come white and blue alternatively...

6. If your calculations exist in the query but are not shown in the list, select the list using the Select Ancestor button, go to the Properties property, and enable the calculations as properties of the list.

Yep...
If a data item or calculation is in the query but not used in the display, the query minimization rules in Cognos mean that it gets ignored when the report runs because it's not deemed necessary to anything that displays on the page. You can force it to be used / evaluated by making it a property of the list.
