Title: Problems with Cognos Gateway AD Authentication
Post by: plizard on 29 Jan 2014 10:39:51 AM
So, this was working fine for me until last week until it just...didn't anymore.

Currently my environment is as follows:  Four servers, one for Cognos, IIS, SQL Server, and the domain controller.  Active Directory is in place for user authentication.

For some reason, trying to login to Cognos report server via the gateway doesn't work anymore, and it is not accepting any of the credentials I pass it.  However, I can log in to the dispatcher just fine.  Nothing has changed in the configuration, I've double checked to make sure the passwords were all still the same for the AD user and the binding credentials user, etc.

The tests in Cognos Configuration all pass just fine.

Please assist.  I can provide more information as needed.

Do you have the gateway component installed on the cognos box and the iis box?

Sounds like the IIS config may have been changed. Recreate a new Virtual directory and see if this works.

It took some time, but I finally figured out the problem.  It seemed the cryptographic keys for the cognos installation had expired, so what I had to do was delete the existing ones and regenerate new ones, per these instructions:

Damnit. That was my first hunch then I second guessed myself thinking it might be something more than simple crypto key issue. >.<

Thanks for the follow up. If you could edit your OP and add [Solved] to the subject/title that would be most appreciated! :)
