Title: [Solved] Report Studio not visible to Cognos Professional role user
Post by: danii64 on 26 Dec 2013 01:44:16 PM
I have about 10 users in Cognos professional role and to one of them report studio is not visible. I have checked and verified that she is in all the right roles and groups with right permissions. other users have no problem accessing report studio expect for one them although i did notice in her profile under the personal tab she is missing her email address from the email field. while all the other users have email address listed there, in their respective profiles. Is this is a cognos issue or in the AD. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Check if the same issue persist even if you provide temporary admin access to user.

Hi,

Check if this particular user is also a member of a group or role which has the Report Studio capability explicitly denied. That would be the most likely cause I suspect.

Cheers!

He is only part pf one group and that is added to the report studio in the capabilities.
When you say explicitly denied, what exactly do you mean?

Hi,

When you look at the properties of the Report Studio capability, you can see that it is possible to deny access to certain users/groups/roles as well as granting access.

If a user belongs to one group which has access granted, and to another which has access denied, the user does not get the capability.

One other thought. You may have granted access to the Report Studio capability for the group, but have you also gone into User Interface Profiles and granted the group access to the Professional UIP?

Cheers!

MF.

Another thing you can check is to have the user log in, then go to preferences and the "Personal" tab. There you can see what groups, roles, and capabilities the user has which may provide some insight into what is missing.

thank you all!

I checked user interface profile and in there i hadn't added the role to the professional and express. After i did that, the users were able to access Report studio.

Thanks again!
