Hi Gurus,
We might have to get a version control/source code control process in place in our current project.
I've recommended BSP ICS and MotioCI as two possible products for implementing this. However, client is looking forward for any IBM Product that is capable of doing this...something like Clearcase. I am not quite sure if this can be used for Version control and can be integrated with Cognos.
Please let me know if there are any IBM products out there which can be used for implementing version control.

Raj
As far as I know, IBM's only version control product is ClearCase.
If you want integrated 3rd-party version control you've already found market leaders.
For non-web-based Cognos tools like FM and Transformer, they store their content in files which can generally be checked into most any of the many many version control systems out there, some of which are even free but of course these are not in any way integrated with the Cognos tools.
If I could get somebody to pay for it here, my preference would be to buy a tool like BSP ICS.
Thank you bdbits,
I presume for components like FM & Transformer VSS would suffice. However, for reports and user groups etc it might not be possible
Yes, as mentioned by you its not going to be a complete integration.
BTW, did you have any idea on integrating ClearCase with Cognos.I need to check with my customer if they are open for any third party vendor. In my opinion, BSP ICS is an awesome tool with lot of features with version controlling and cognos administration.

No, although some workgroups here have used ClearCase before, we are using Microsoft's TFS and just checking in our complete models (FM and Transformer) which are file-based. Like I said, I would use something like ICS if it were an option for me.
Hi All,
In our project we are using PVCS to export all COGNOS files and now they are asking for any feasibility in connecting cognos server and TFS.
The idea behind this question is whenever we export a package it will get stored in defined path in COGNOS Server. So, that path should be mapped to TFS. so without any effort for checkin the file should be visible and accessible in TFS.
Please tell me is this feasible and how can it be done.

There is no integrated version control with TFS. You can use a shared folder that is mapped to TFS, but you will still have to check the files in and out of TFS.
Or you can use a Cognos-integrated tool like ICS from BSP (our host here). More info on that http://www.bspsoftware.com/Products/ICS/ (http://www.bspsoftware.com/Products/ICS/).
