What is the best method to display multiple reports (scheduled) on one portal page to have a good fit (portal page, dashboard, ...)?

Depends on your needs and how you want it to look.
Multi-page, columns with multiple cognos viewers, combination of both.
You have to just experiment.

and how do I fit a wide graph in the viewer?

futhermore, how about if I have 7 reports on one page?
