Title: what is the function of content store
Post by: inu on 02 Dec 2013 12:16:56 AM
Hi guys
As content store contains the connection string , such as sid name, user id and password.. I want to know that what is its function , Is it utilized at the time of creating model or generating report.

If it is just for connecting to the database, then my content store is configured by default such as sid name: CM, userid: cognos, password:cognos.
what is the use of these information for connecting to oracle database. becoz oracle connection string is totally different.
In addition to this if i create content store of oracle that is sid:oradba, userid:scott, password:tiger. then what will happen.
please rectify my daughts and confusion. Thanks.................

With Regards
Inam

The architecture and deployment guide is a useful way to understand the different components and their purpose.

TL;DR
The content store is the DB that Cognos uses to store all it's metadata, configurations, reports, report outputs, and everything you see in "Public Folders".
