Title: Dashboard Reports
Post by: smtest on 25 May 2007 07:47:24 AM
I am trying to build a dashboard. I did some research and found out that the queries in the dashboard should update by itself (after every 15 secs) . There  should be a way to update each query in the dashboard seperately. But in the report studio. I dont see that kind of functionality. The only way i can do is to rerun the whole report. But then it may take few mins as it is running all the queries. So is reportnet alone is enough to build an interactive dashboards or it has to be integrated with any third party tool through sdk.
pls advice

If you need realtime dashboards, then Cognos LAVA, pardon me, Cognos NOW!, might be a better choice. Otherwise, make your DW/DM respond faster and use embededd JavaScript to refresh (rerun) your report.

For a "near real time" dashboard I'd use AJAX to execute the report behind the scenes. I can't provide you with the entire script. I can only give you pointers. I have a business to run, you know ...  ;D

As for Cognos LAVA, oops, Cognos NOW!, just look it up on Cognos' website.of
