Title: Calculated Column Rollups in Framework Manager
Post by: Nathan_F on 23 May 2007 09:35:49 AM
I have database columns as measures for Revenue and Gross Margin.  I need to calculate the Gross Margin percentage (Gross Margin/Revenue.)  Merely adding a calculated FW manager column performs the calculation before rollup, and I get grossly overstated numbers.

In Transformer, you can select After Rollup to indicate that a calculation should be performed after the items have been rolled up.  How do I accomplish this when dimensionally modeling data in Framework Manager?

The report is just totalling the percentage. Try setting setting"Aggregate Function" and "Rollup Aggregate Function" to "Calculated" in the report

Changing the Aggregate Function and Rollup Aggregate function in a report does not have an effect on the result.  The calculated column is still performing the calculation first, then the rollup.

Also, I am trying to set this up to function correctly in Analysis Studio.  I want to be able to use the dimensionally modeled data for analysis there.

Thanks!

I replicated the calc in FM but alas it doesnt seem to work to well. I could only get it right when doing the calc in the report. Will try again tomorrow and post if successfull.

After doing some research I dont think this will work in FM well at all - do the calc in report rather - sorry man.
