Title: Publish new FM package before upgrade testing

Hi

After performing an upgrade to Cognos 8 to 10, is it important to re-publish all FM packages in the new environment before comparing report outputs? or is it just ok to upgrade the reports in the Cognos 10 environment and then compare?

We found it beneficial to upgrade the packages in FM because there are features that have been deprecated in FM.  You want to verify that your FM model is valid in Cognos 10.x before you start checking reports.  This is the same recommendation we got from IBM and in fact we checked, validated and published our model each time we upgraded from Cognos 8 to 10.2 and then 10.2 to 10.2.1.
