Title: Data Import
Post by: jessewalia on 16 Sep 2013 12:13:45 PM
Hello Everyone,

I am new to Cognos and this might be a dumb question :( After creating a data connection (SQL Sever) how can I import data to actually start creating reports. Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you,
-Jesse

Importing is not the right phrase. Data is read at runtime using a report package. A package originates from a Cognos model. The model serves as a semantic layer between report and database. The model / packages uses the datasource to the database where data is stored.

Thank you for replying. After creating the package - I got the following error when publishing hence no data was populated.

"BMT-MD-2040 The query subject "[SQL].[assembly_files]" contains a query item with a blob datatype. To fetch the blob data, it must be possible to uniquely identify a row of data. Please define a determinant that contains keys that uniquely identify the row." any feedback on correcting this?

Thank you for your help again.
