Title: Cube Published Via Framework Manager
Post by: nayitian on 16 May 2007 02:45:51 PM
Hello everyone,

We are about to migrate and upgrade our current Cognos S7 to Cognos 8. I read through some documents pertaining to migration and upgrading.

Since Cognos 8 does not have PP to view data, the cubes can be published through Framwork Manager as package, and data can be views within different studios. But how can the data be refreshed periodically ? And, how is the automation job regarding to it.

Appreciate anyone can help me out.

Regards

Your cubes can be also published directly to Cognos Connection without a package. Just think of CC as your new Upfront.

On the subject of update, there is a script on Cognos Support which deals with cube replacements if you decide to use them as data sources.

I believe still we need to stick with Transformer for data refresh. Isn't that right?

Yes. Transformer is the only tool that can build you a new cube. But, with Cognos 8, you can now start dimensionally model a relational database.
