As above, we have a suite of reports, recently migrated from 8.2 to 8.4, and in some of the reports, Case Count has randomly dropped out ie not displaying anymore. We have checked it out and everything appears as it should be - the logic is identical to other reports in which case Count is still working/appearing.
I was told this could be due to the migration to 8.4, specifically 'SQL optimization'.....?
It is really frustrating and even in some reports where we have deleted the original Case Count, and re-entered it, it still is blank in the output. In other reports with multiple tabs, one of Case Counts appears blank yet the others still display (and with the correct value).
Anyone have any suggestions?
Just a tip: Do not use version 8.4 We had a series of issues with that version that were solved by going to 8.4.1 I'm not saying that it will solve your issue, but 8.4 is not the one you want..
Just to confirm, we are using version 8.4.1 (thanks for the tip anyhow).
Did you try to check whether the 8.4.1. version generates different SQL than the 8.2? Between the versions Cognos did indeed change the optimization, but we never had issues with CASE constructions.
There are no less than 5 fix-packs for version 8.4.1. Did you check these for possible resolutions:
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27020391 (http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27020391)
I checked and we have v8.4.1 with Fix Pack 5 installed........so a fix pack isn't the solution to our problem.......
But that still does not answer the question whether query generation between 8.2 and 8.4.1 is different.. You should investigate this
